This is a very special portrait as it sews up my three passions: my daughter, my Michigan beaches, & soulful photography. I can feel and smell this image.
It was taken last summer at Ludington State Park. I always make my reservations online, six months in advance, as many of the west coast parks fill before the snow melts. This particular time, we camped at Ludington SP's hike-in campground. We biked everything in. At early evening, we would climb the dune and find we were the only people on the beach for as far as you could see. Hard to believe for a park that was filled to capacity, but it's true.
